Medicare Advantage plans will get a $25+ Billion increase in federal payments for 2026. The more than 5% bump in payments comes as a surprise since there have been Medicare Advantage funding cuts in the last 2 years.
We will not know how this 5+% increase in federal funding will affect 2026 benefits for another 4-5 months, but it is definitely good news for those of you on Medicare Advantage plans. Most insurance companies claim that they have been losing money on Medicare Advantage plans this and last year. So, 2026 benefit changes remain very much up in the air.
As most of you know, Medicare pays an insurance company about $1,000/month so that the insurance company is responsible for your medical bills rather than Medicare itself. (The amount varies based on your age and location.)
